Hearing Aid Repair in Fairbanks, AK
Need to Fix Your Hearing Aids?
If your hearing aid doesn’t sound quite the way it used to, there may be an internal issue with the device. Aurora Audiology can do extensive repairs on site for most hearing aid types. We’ll be able to tell you how long it will take to fix and offer you loaners in the meantime.
Caring for Your Hearing Aid
You should clean the wax off your hearing aids after each use with an audio wipe, basic wet wipe or cloth to decrease build-up and maintain performance. In cases of extreme wax build-up, ask us to clean the hearing aids for you. We have the proper training and tools to ensure wax and other debris are removed safely without damaging your aids.
Getting a Hearing Aid Adjustment
The fit of your hearing aids may also need to be adjusted periodically. Excessive feedback or whistling may indicate a problem with the fitting, or that a new earmold is needed. Your hearing may also worsen over time, which will require reprogramming your hearing aids. Hearing aid adjustments can typically be done quickly during an office visit.
BTE hearing aid wearers will need to have the tubes on their aids replaced regularly due to stretching, discoloration, hardening, cracking or moisture issues. For hearing aids that require earmolds, such as a BTE hearing aid, there may be a one- or two-week wait to have a new earmold created.
Get a great fit – We’re certified by Starkey to perform high-level hearing aid and earmold modifications.
Hearing Device Service & Repair, & Programming Pricing
The professional treatment of hearing loss involves much more than simply purchasing hearing devices. Ongoing assessments, fine-tuning and ongoing maintenance visits are critical for ensuring the best treatment outcomes. For this reason, Aurora Audiology offers established patients a bundled treatment model that includes devices, visits, and services for a specified amount of time that applies to most services while your hearing device is under warranty. We also offer services to established patients with out-of-warranty devices, as well as new and established patients who have purchased devices at another location.
Just like with any other electronic device that you use, hearing devices are things that do wear out over time, break, or stop working. In some instances, as with other technology and devices, they can seem to stop for no real reason as well. Even if you have taken as much care as possible to look after your hearing devices, keep them clean, and keep them free from being crushed or damaged, there are parts of the hearing device that are delicate and can still get damaged through normal wear and tear. Parts of the hearing device can also get damaged by dust, ear wax, oils, creams, and just general wear. Part of the outer casing can start to crack, and circuits in the device can short out. If you are a hearing device owner, then you should know the ins and outs of repairs, because problems will happen in their lifespan. You can wear a variety of different hearing devices, and the kind that you wear will depend on the kind of repair that is needed, if they don’t need to be replaced completely. There are warranties available too, which can help, but otherwise, there are costs involved with repairing hearing devices.
Please note that all fees are subject to change. Our staff will provide you with quotes for service fees during our assessment of your device(s) if necessary.
